Fifth Anniversary of Mali dom-Zagreb celebrated

Day Care Centre for the Rehabilitation of Children and Youth Mali dom - Zagreb this year marks the fifth anniversary of its successful work so we celebrated with the number of events and activities held in the week from 05 to 10 May of 2014.
 
We started on Monday, May 5th, with the festive event held at Mimara Museum. Numerous representatives of institutions and organizations from ​​Zagreb attended the event, as well as our children from the program and their families, most of the staff and associates.

 

The event started with the few welcoming words from our distinctive guests; Vice president of the Zagreb City Council Jelena Pavičić Vukičević, Assistant Minister of Social Policy and Youth Iva Prpic, representative of the Mayor of the City of Zagreb and the head of the Department for Social Security and People with Disabilities Višnja Fortuna.

 
 
Director of our Day Care Centre Darija Udovičić Mahmuljin presented the work of the institution in the last five years and pointed out some special achievements to date :
• On 12 May 2009, Mali dom-Zagreb was officially opened at Baštijanova 1 d, and since then the successful cooperation with the City of Zagreb has been going on
• To date, more than 1320 children with multiple disabilities and their families have received assistance through our programs
• A successful cooperation with similar institutions in other countries and international organizations, especially  Perkins International, has been established
• We held more than 30 training at the regional level - training , seminars and training specifically tailored for related institutions from other countries in the region : Armenia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia and Greece – for Perkins International
• Certification of management systems quality was conducted  and we obtained International ISO 9001:2008 certificate
• Therapeutic feeding handbook was designed and published
• Employees of Mali dom-Zagreb published series of scientific and expert papers in different journals in Croatia and abroad
• More than 50 presentations held  at Scientific meetings and Conferences at home and abroad
• Successful cooperation with Universities and numerous study visits of experts
• Establishing the Mali dom-Zagreb Education Centre - training in different areas of work with children with multiple disabilities.


 
Special Certificates for successful cooperation and support in our work were awarded to our distinguished guests, respectively :
• Ph.D. Milan Stanojević, a neonatologist - Hospital Sv.Duh
• Ph.D. Vlatka Mejaški - Bošnjak, neuropediatritian – Children's Hospital Zagreb
• Ph.D. Jelena Petrinović - Dorešić , ophthalmologist - Hospital Sv.Duh
• Mayor of Zagreb, mr. Milan Bandić.


 
At the end of the program the guests were entertained by vocal ensemble Vatroslav Lisinski and  their performance of Renaissance music.
