Presentation of Therapeutic Feeding Handbook

Public presentation of the Therapeutic Feeding handbook was held at the Day Center Mali dom - Zagreb on Wednesday 26 March 2014. This unique handbook was created by Mali dom-Zagreb's employees Diana Korunić and Dubravko Jurišić with the support and financial help from the City of Zagreb and Perkins International organization.

Darija Udovičić Mahmuljin, the director of Mali dom-Zagreb opened this presentation with a short introduction, followed by a few words from Marinka Bakula Anđelić, representative of the City of Zagreb. The expert review of the Handbook was given by Vlatka Mejaški Bošnjak, MD, Phd, from the Children's Hospital in Zagreb and prof. Draženka Blaži from Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, and finally one of the authors, Dubravko Jurišić, gave a presentation of the Handbook itself. 

The Handbook is designed to help parents and professionals as an addition to the experience in this area and summarizes all the information related to the orderly development of feeding , possible deviations and problems, along with advice and recommendations. The intention of the handbook is to present in one place all the information regarding the normal development of feeding, deviations from this development, to explain what is therapeutic feeding and how to implement it  and present useful ideas for encouraging and improving oral motor movement and sensibilization of the area as extremely important in the process of feeding.

Public presentation was attended by a number of Social care institutions and kindergartens from Zagreb, which were given a number of Handbooks for use in their own work.
